How to disable text drag and drop on a Word and Powerpoint page to avoid problems, especially when using the touchpad
Formatted text editors like Word they allow
select the text and move it in the page layout using the drag and drop. I never understood the usefulness of this function I never used it, although it is certainly important when applying it to an image or a graphic object to better position it in the layout.
Especially if you use the touchpad, you will probably drag text unintentionally. If we are immediately aware of this, we can go back up
File -> Undo Move or typing the universal key combination Ctrl + Z. But if we don't notice it right away, then to put the formatting back in place, it takes effort and patience, not to mention the anger and loss of time that this causes.
This functionality also exists in power point and also in the application Document Writer from
LibreOffice. While in this latest free and open source office suite I didn't find anything useful, here we go Word let's go

The configuration is self-contained and therefore can be left at
power point and disable on Word or vice versa.

The procedure is identical for Word is for
power point. he lets himself go Word, any document or even a blank document is opened. then go up
File -> Options
which is the last option at the bottom of the left column.
A window will open to choose the section
Advanced Settings
then scroll down the page.
uncheck one Allow drag and drop text then click on OK bottom right corner.
After this change, it will no longer be possible to drag text and therefore encounter typical touchpad issues.
With power point we act in the same way. You run the program and open a file PPTX or you get one
empty presentation. click in File
then go down to the top column options to open a window.
At the PowerPoint Options click in
Advanced Settings then you scroll down the page.
uncheck one Allow drag and drop text then click on OK to apply the change. After this action, it will no longer be possible to drag text, but you can always do it with images and other objects.
