How Google Password Manager works in Chrome from the desktop, to be saved as a link and as an Android app to add to the home screen

All of us when we browse the internet access dozens of sites, or even hundreds like in my case. For each domain it is therefore necessary to remember the username and password with which we entered.

The most used browsers ask the user to
save the password the first time a website is accessed or when, during login, the username or password is changed. This data is then stored in the browser. In case of
chromeif we are logged in with an account
Googlesaved credentials are also stored in
cloud and therefore they can be recovered even if we uninstall the browser.

also if the Google that we use for
chrome

is the same with which we access one of our devices
androidpasswords, if necessary, can also be viewed on the smartphone or tablet.

This was a feature that we've known about for some time and that I've covered several times as in the post on how to
recover passwords saved in
Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Opera
. since a few days Google added a free tool, a kind of password managerthat will compete with commercial products.

The features in chrome changed a little bit, but in
android you can save all passwords with a link in Home of the device. Basically one will be created application to view the login credentials saved to the account Google relating to a particular domain. The display is not free as it is tied to device owner authentication via
Fingerprint, PIN or another system.

posted on my
Youtube channel

a tutorial in which I explain how to use the
Google Password Manager.

First let's see how to organize the
Google Password Manager

through the chrome of the desktop.

open chromeyou login with our account
Google if you haven't already done so, go to the menu with the three dots in the upper right corner and then choose
Settings -> Autofill -> Password.

Let's display the list of all saved passwords to the right of their respective domains. Important to activate the cursor for
log in

automatically to sites whose passwords have been saved and which
ask to save them.

passwords saved in chrome

To look up the password for a particular site if
enter the domain in the upper right field.

This will act as a filter and show all passwords associated with that particular domain. The username, if present, will be visible, while the password will be hidden by dots. To view it, click on the eye icon.

To actually view the password, however, we will have to prove our identity by affixing theFingerprint, typing the PIN or other recognition methods. By going to the three dots menu next to a password, you can Remove, copy and modifyafter having always logged in as indicated.

This settings page chrome can be saved in favorites. But saved passwords are not just stored in chrome but they end up in the cloud of our account Google. We can view them by opening the
password manager
to browse domains with visible usernames and hidden passwords.

You can create a desktop shortcut to the page. You make the window smaller by clicking the square button in the top right corner, then dragging the URL lock onto the desktop to create a link.

The link will have the name of the page,
password managerbut you can too
change. Double-clicking this link will display all stored passwords on our account Google.

However, to view them we will need to be connected to the account
Google and authenticate us with your fingerprint or other.

ANDROID PASSWORD MANAGER

O password saved in browser chromeand from desktop and mobile they end up in our account Google.

If this account is the same as the one we use for a device
android, we can create some kind of application like
password manager. he goes up
Settings -> Privacy -> Other advanced settings.

android autocomplete

On the next screen, tap
More advanced settings -> Google AutoFill.

Finally we go up Password. Let's display the
password saved exactly as above

add android home password manager

You tap the icon gear wheel then you go up Add shortcut to home screen.

We will show a key icon representing the
password manager. You touch it with your finger and, keeping it pressed, drag it to the desired point on the screen.
Home
. When you tap it, it will open the password page, the one where we tapped on the cogwheel. To view a certain password, we will first have to enter the domain name to filter it. You then log in with your fingerprint and tap the eye to view it and the two leaves icon to copy it to your clipboard. Further down are the buttons as well
To edit AND Delete. With this function of Google it doesn't make sense to install anymore
