Split files into parts with 7-ZIP to be able to share them on social networks with a weight limit like WhatsApp and gather them if downloaded from chats
Some social networks impose restrictions on the maximum weight of files that can be shared by users. for example in
Whatsapp you can't chat with heavier videos than 100 MB and this limitation prevents you from sharing videos recorded in high resolution, even if they are not particularly long.
In one of the most used email services, such as gmailif files heavier than 25 MBare not accepted directly, but are loaded into the account
google drive connected to the email and then just send the link. This consumes the free space assigned to each account by the cloud service.
Things are much better in Telegram as the weight limit for videos to be shared in chat is 1.5GB this is from
1536 MBfar above the limit of
Whatsapp. However, to send files larger than allowed, we may
auto-split files to desired maximum size.
We can do this with the free program
7-ZIPinstallable on windows AND Linux. a user windows will open the
7-ZIP download page
then click the appropriate link for your operating system (32bit, 64bit or arm64).
He will then double click on the file .exe downloaded and follow the dialogs to complete the installation.
7-ZIP will add new items to the context menu. These items will appear immediately if you use Windows 10 while you go up

Let's take a video files weighing
121 MB that, being superior 100 MB, could not be shared on Whatsapp. Remember to see the size of a file in
Windows File Explorer just click on it to select it. The file size will be
shown below left from the window.

The file takes the name of the file and the format is selected
zip then below you define the dimensions of the pieces.
Dimensions are expressed in Byte but you can use it for example 25 million for a size of 25 MB.
In the previous screenshot I defined a size
40 million that is, I chose to split the 121 MB in parts of
40 MB each. will be divided into
3 parts with rest of 1 MB which will be added in a residual part. There are also predefined values of
10M, 100M, 1000M and the size for CDkeys, DVD and other media.
click in OK. The original file will not be deleted, but the files will be created zip of the size of the set.
All files zip will have the dimensions provided, excluding the last one which will have the residual size from the video. In the test examined a video of 121 MB will be divided into
3 ZIPs of 40 MB and 1 of 1 MB. For the zip gods will be added
order numbers after its extension, for example
filename.zip.001filename.zip.002filename.zip0,003…
Those zip file it could be
sent or shared
on all social networks that support its size.

HOW TO JOIN FILES DIVIDED INTO PARTS
Always with the help of 7-ZIP they can
combine files split into parts. The required conditions are that it has been installed on the computer
7-ZIP
and that the zip where the file was split are all located in the same folder.
Right-click on the zip file which has the order number on it 001.
Inside Windows 11 you go up
show other options to display the context menu of
Windows 10 what to climb
7-Zip -> Extract here (or Extract to [file name]). After a quick test it will come
reconstituted the original file.
A green progress bar and processing data will be shown in the process window. The merged file will be added to the files folder
